Pellars and Crafters is a creative workshop business inspired by folklore, traditional wisdom, and the quiet magic of making by hand. We offer crafting workshops and guided sessions, where people come to learn skills, explore creativity, and create their own meaningful pieces.
Our name comes from the Cornish dialect pellar; a figure deeply rooted in Cornish folklore and history.

What is a Cornish Pellar?
A pellar is a wise person, healer, and keeper of old knowledge. Historically, they were often consulted for remedies, charms, and protection, blending practical herbal skill with a deep belief in the unseen threads of the world. Neither wholly doctor nor witch, the pellar stood in the liminal space between the everyday and the magical, offering help that acknowledged both nature and mystery.
In Cornwall, the word pellar still carries echoes of quiet wisdom, intuition, and respect for traditions.
What is a Crafter?
A crafter is an individual who demonstrates expertise in producing handmade items from various materials, whether as a hobbyist or artisan. Comparable to the pellar – who resides on the margins of society and is engaged when needed – the crafter likewise typically works outside of public view.
Where Making Becomes Magic
At Pellars and Crafters, we believe the truest magic happens when hands are busy and minds are free to wander. Our workshops are designed as small creative journeys; places where you can slow down, learn something new, and make something of your own.
We guide rather than instruct, encourage rather than rush, and invite participants to experiment, follow their instincts, and discover the crafting pellar within. You might not leave with a perfect artefact, but you’ll leave with something you’ve created yourself, shaped by your own choices and a little bit of wonder.
Pellars and Crafters is for dreamers, makers, and those who believe that learning a craft can feel like stepping briefly into another world.
We look forward to crafting a little magic with you.
